I’m not sure how I made it through life before I discovered the delicious cuisine of Thailand. Of all international cuisine, Thai food’s interesting blends of curry, coconut milk, or other fresh ingredients is my favorite. When we moved to East Nashville a couple of years ago, we had no convenient Thai restaurant nearby. When Salathai closed downtown, we were desperate! We knew that the progressive community of East Nashville would support a Thai (or Indian) restaurant, and even discussed trying to open such a place ourselves. While driving down Briley Parkway toward Opry Mills a few months ago, we noticed a sign off to the right. “Did that sign say Sukho Thai?” “Yes!”
We stopped in that day and were blown away by the relaxing atmosphere and expansive menu of Thai Food as well as a Sushi Bar! The owners were very friendly and the prices were on par with other Thai restaurants we had been to in the past. As a matter of fact, we have eaten at Thai restaurants all over the United States, and would be willing to rate Sukho Thai with the best of them!
They serve lunch, dinner, and are happy to prepare meals for takeout. You can call them at 615.883.6050. Mmmmm, I think we’ll be back there tonight!

Authentic, outstanding mom & pop operation that really knows Thai cooking. Well prepared Thai dishes with fresh ingredients. I work in the area, eat there often and have tried most of the dishes and have never been disappointed. Simple elegant atmosphere, but not at all pretentious. That is why you will see an eclectic mix of people that know the real thing when they find it. A very unusual location in the middle of the Nashville tourist trap area next to the Opryland Hotel and a mini golf and go carts amusement area. Don't be fooled. This is not an oriental buffet pig out trough. This is fine dining served to you as it should be.

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I've experienced. It definitely compares with, if not beats, Thai food I've had in Boston and San Francisco.
I came here with a group of friends at their suggestion - a few of them have become fanatical about this place. Two of them come here once a week during the workweek - apparently the luncheon specials are pretty good. We ordered 4 large Orion’s ($6/bottle). They give nifty frosted glasses for ice water, and oddly shaped (but usable) beer glasses. Adds to the fun. It is a family owned restaurant, according to one friend who knew the owner/waitress. The father cooks in the back, while the mother and daughter are waitresses/cashiers.
Onto the food: we ordered family style. Pad Thai, Angry Shrimp, Basil Chicken, some kind of vegetable sauté, and Penang curry with shrimp. Prices of all those dishes ranged from $9-$13. We also got generous portions of white rice.
In a word, all of the food was great. The Pad Thai was slightly saucier/oilier than I've had, but it was a pleasant surprise. All of the other; The basil chicken, vegetable, and angry shrimp had similar brown sauces with varying degrees of spiciness. They were all well prepared (perhaps a bit too similar, but it was all great, so no complaints). I loved mixing the sauces with white rice. Each table is outfitted with a tiny carousel of 4 spices/sauces. My friends used these more than I did, but it's a great way to allow each person to customize to their own levels of spiciness/flavor. Incidentally, Sukho offers multiple levels of hotness for their dishes, including "Native Thai." I was curious to try this, but was warned by my friends that it was pretty insane. I'll save that for another date.
A couple others have noted that it's not super authentic, which I disagree with. The restaurant does offer a mix of other cuisines (specifically Chinese and Japanese sushi). However, I don't fault them for this - after living in Nashville for a few months, I get the feeling that all Asian restaurants have to diversify a bit. Sukho definitely focuses on Thai.
Overall, I'm definitely coming back here even though it's a bit out of the way. I highly recommend anyone go here, especially if you're going to be in the Grand Ole Opry/Opryland/Opry Mills area.

My son and I enjoyed this restaurant very much. Everything was prepared to order and so fresh. I felt the prices were reasonable for the quantity of food that was served. Delish!

One of the last places you'd expect to find a wonderful little Thai restaurant would be next to a Go-Kart track/miniature golf course and across the street from the sprawling Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. That's the case with Sukho Thai, however. Unfailingly gracious proprietor Boun Quang, Laotian-born and Thai-raised, likely will greet you at the door of the elegant yet homey spot. She'll say "sorry" if you have to wait more than a minute or two for a slender water glass to be filled or a delicious bowl of wonton soup to arrive. From the lengthy, authentic Thai menu, you won't be sorry by ordering one of the 'angries" — the spicy-hot (but deliciously so) Angry Pork, beef, shrimp or chicken vegetable stir-fries accompanied by fried rice. Curries, soups, salads, pork, poultry, beef, noodle, seafood, vegetables and tofu dishes round out the menu. Definitely get the crab rangoon as an appetizer or side. Beer, wine and sake available. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.

This is it—the supercollider where the palate-pleasing spiciness of Thai cuisine meets a rip-roaring rampage of go-kart annihilation, where the smells of pad kra pao and lawnmower-engine exhaust fuse into a perfect storm of pure adrenaline. Located on Music Valley Drive, this surprisingly good Thai restaurant seems all but unknown to locals, except those who work at Gaylord's gargantuan Opryland compound. (A hat tip to Gaylord's Jeff Harmon, who hipped us to the angry shrimp—that's a dish, not a biological threat.) Beckoning just outside is the Grand Old Golf miniature golf course and go-kart track, which snakes right past Sukho Thai's front windows. Partake of both in whichever order you choose—but bear in mind that racing and projectile vomiting are nobody's idea of a happy union. —JIM RIDLEY
